28 TCCI members gathered in Makati before sunset to prepare for a 3-hour trip to the mountains of Siniloan, Laguna. This is actually part of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Upon reaching the place, we gathered at the UP Land Grant Office for a short orientation by some people from Haribon and UP Land Grant, as well as updates of the government’s Road to 2020 initiative. After a few shots and poses, the group started the uphill trek which took one hour. Thanks to the cool mountain climate we hardly felt the heat of the sun. It was really challenging to pass through the rocky, muddy, woody, slippery, and sometimes eerie forest pathway. As expected, the energetic and the young ones breezed through easily, while the young “once” trailed. TCCI planted 500 trees in the mountain top and slopes in less than an hour. After a hearty lunch, we headed back to Makati. Each TCCI member has his own story to tell as each one struggled to trek to and from the tree planting site. Indeed, everyone had a worthy, fun-filled, well organized tree planting activity.
